How to reach Wilpattu National Park from Colombo

Car

The full journey takes only approximately 4 hr 20 min (185km) via Chilaw - Colombo main road / Puttalam - Colombo road, but it depends on road traffic conditions.

Bus

You can take a bus from the Colombo central bus stand, to Anuradhapura or Puttalam.

Colombo - Anuradhapura (Bus No 57) Get off at Anuradhapura or Puttalam. From there you have to take a taxi or tuk-tuk to Wilpattu park. Journey may take around 6 to 7 hours.

Colombo - Anuradhapura (Bus No 04) via Katunayake Expressway. Get off at Anuradhapura or Puttalam. From there you have to take a taxi or tuk-tuk to Wilpattu park. Journey may take around 5 to 6 hours.

Train

Take a train to Anuradhapura, from there take a taxi or tuk-tuk to Wilpattu park. Journey may take around 5 to 6 hours. It's recommended to check the train schedule and book tickets, especially during peak times.
