About Sigiriya
Sigiriya or Lion Rock is one of the most popular tourist places in Sri Lanka. This is the eighth wonder of the world and one of the top 10 places to visit. Also, Sigiriya was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site (1982). It is a testament to the island nation's rich history and architectural brilliance. Sigiriya includes unbelievable technology, wall art and beautifully landscaped gardens.
History about Sigiriya
The Sigiriya was built by the Sinhalese king Kashyapa (477–95). He made this, intending it to be a safeguard against his brother King Mogallana. It was originally built as a fortress and later transformed into a royal palace, and now a popular tourist spot.
Sigiriya Frescoes
One of the most tourist attractions of Sigiriya is the collection of frescoes. The frescoes of the Sigiriya virgins ("Sigiriya Maidens"), here are a favorite and fascinating of tourists. These ancient paintings reflect the capabilities of the Sigiri civilization and the history of Sri Lanka.
Sigiriya Graffiti and Mirror Wall
Another place that attracts local and foreign tourists is Mirror Wall, Sigiriya Graffiti can be seen on the lower area of it. These are the collections of thoughts of people who have visited Sigiriya in the past. They may be kings, poets, or common people.
How to reach Sigiriya from Colombo
Car
The full journey takes approximately 3-4 hours, but it depends on road traffic conditions.
Can use the Colombo - Dambulla Road.
Bus
You can take a bus from the Colombo central bus stand, and the journey may take around 4 to 5 hours.

Colombo - Trinco (Bus No 49)
Train
There are no direct trains from Colombo to Sigiriya, You have to take a train from Colombo fort to Habarana and from there have to take a bus or taxi to Dambulla. And the journey may take around 2 - 3 hours. It's recommended to check the train schedule and book tickets, especially during peak times.
How to get to Sigiriya fast?
You can use cinnamon Air from Katunayake Airport. The journey may take around 35 - 50 minutes.
