About Dewanagala Buddhist Temple or Dewanagala Raja Maha Vihara

Dewanagala is one of the best places to visit in Sri Lanka and must visit places in Sri Lanka. Dewanagala Raja Maha Viharaya is located in Mawanella area of ​​Kegalle district. According to one inscription, two villages were assigned to a victorious soldier known as "Stone Soldier (Gal Senewi)" who went to fight in Burma from Sri Lanka. It is also mentioned that during the Anuradhapura era, Devanagala was offered to the arahants. The temple here is known as Tampita temple. The temple here is known as the Tampita temple and the carvings and idols inside the temple are said to belong to the Kandy era. Next to the temple complex is a “Gedi Geya” made of granite blocks. It is also said in history that Sri Dalada (The Tooth Relic) was buried in this tree house for one night and offered sacrifices.

How to reach Dewanagala from Colombo
